When CD-R media first came out, it wasn’t 700mb / 80 minutes, and the top recording speed was 2x to 4x.

So a couple days ago, a customer came in and he was wearing this hat (but in beige). I recognised it right off as a product premium for smoking Basic cigarettes in the 1980-1990s. He said that he found the hat in the back of his closet that day and couldn’t remember initially what the writing referred to.

This oversized cardboard Kodak 110 film box has been hanging in the ‘necessaries’ stand outside the grandstand at the fairgrounds for umpteen years. The woman I spoke to in the stand say they keep it there for nostalgia purposes. I can’t blame them, it’s pretty awesome.

There are signs on the windows of this stand saying they have Kodak APS Advantix film, no word on them having the more popular 35mm film also, and indeed they do still have three boxes of Advantix hanging on the wall. I had the woman pull one down for me to find out the expiration date… 2004.

The biggest Sony Watchman portable television I have ever seen. The Watchman line was produced between 1982 and 2000. Side shown to illustrate that not only can the picture be adjusted properly, it has an A/V input so you can plug a videogame or a video player into it, plus unlike most analog Watchmans it can still be used today with a digital tuner/cable box.

Transformers, more than meets the eye…

Lady Dazey hair drier that, instead of being a heater with a tube to a shower cap like most home driers, opens up to be a hair salon style drier helmet.

Made approximately 1994 according to a box I found on an auction site.

Fittingly, a historical phone booth at a history museum… and not as an exhibit piece, this is a working payphone out front. Had to take a picture when I saw the US West logo at the top, though their heirs are no longer the owner (and thus I am impressed Wimactel didn’t remove the logo).

US West was the local phone company’s name from 1983 to 2000. (Previously: Pacific Northwest Bell. Followed by: Qwest, then CenturyLink.)
